SOM Wireless SSIDs
This information is for you if: You want to connect your computer equipment (desktop, laptop, Smartphone, printer, etc.) to SOM Wireless.
The University of Maryland School of Medicine Office of Information Services hosts SOM Wireless for use while on the UM Campus. Information Services will be adding wireless access points incrementally. If you would like to request coverage in a specific area, please send the location to our help desk, by phone at 6-3998, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SOM Wireless SSIDs Available
Information Services is a member of eduroam, a secure, worldwide Internet access service developed for the international research and education community. SOM faculty, staff, and students with an email address like email@example.com can connect to the eduroam wireless network using your SOM email address and network password while on this campus or on any other participating campus worldwide.
Employees of the School of Medicine who receive IT support from the following departments can use the department logon credentials to access the SOMEmp wireless network and the resources hosted by the specific department. The SOMEmp SSID is currently accessible to those employees with:
- SOM Domain credentials (firstname.lastname@example.org)
- IHV credentials (email@example.com)
Logging onto the SOMGuest SSID can be done by registering with the SOM Guest Wireless Self-Registration Portal. Instructions on how to register can be found here: SOMGuest and ShareLink Wireless SSID Self-Registration Portal Instructions
Logon to the IHVEmp SSID can be done by using your SOM Domain credentials (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Logon to the IHVGuest SSID can be done by entering the SOM guest account credentials. For approval and/or for the SOM guest account credentials, please contact the SOM HelpDesk or IHV Tech Support.
Logon to the SOMStudent SSID can be done by using your SOM Domain credentials (email@example.com). Note, same account and password used to access your SOM Email.
Logon to the Sharelink SSID can be done by registering with the guest portal, which is presented to the user when associating with the Sharelink SSID. Note, this SSID is only available in locations where the Sharelink collaboration equipment is located. Logging onto the ShareLink Wireless SSID can be done by registering with the SOM ShareLink Wireless Self-Registration Portal.
