Project Feast
Do you love Thanksgiving? Do you want to give back to the community? Look no further!

Project Feast is the annual Thanksgiving Meal for the homeless organized by the students of UMB SOM with the help of the rest of the schools on campus. It takes place at Booker T. Washington middle school from 10 am - 3 pm, and last year alone served a warm Thanksgiving lunch to approximately 500 guests! We not only serve a meal, but also distribute clothing and food donations, and provide resource tables by organizations serving the community.

Baylor College of Medicine announces the 14th Annual Michael E. DeBakey Medical Student Poetry Awards.

This annual contest honors the legendary, preeminent cardiovascular surgeon, pioneering medical scientist, gifted medical educator, prolific author and scholar, and passionate advocate of optimal healthcare throughout the world. Dr. Michael E. DeBakey strongly advocated a role for the humanities in medical education and in the development of a full, enriching intellectual life.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Medical Research Scholars Program
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP) http://www.cc.nih.gov/training/mrsp/index.html is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 MRSP class. The application deadline is January 13, 2017.

The NIH MRSP is hosting a webinar to discuss the application process with students and faculty on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 11am-12pm (EST). 35th annual William Carlos Williams Poetry Writing Competition
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) is sponsoring its 35th annual William Carlos Williams poetry writing competition during the 2016-2017 academic year. The competition is open to students attending colleges of medicine or osteopathy in the United States and Canada. AATS Summer Intern Scholarship
The AATS Summer Intern Scholarship program offers first and second year medical students exposure to field of cardiothoracic surgery by spending eight weeks over the summer working in a cardiothoracic surgery department at an AATS member's institution. Additionally, successful applicants receive complimentary registration to the Centennial Meeting taking place April 29th – May 3rd, 2017 in Boston, MA, as well as an opportunity to participate in the AATS Member for a Day program in 2018. This program provides participants with a $2,500 grant to cover housing and living expenses during their internship at their host institution.
