The Health Sciences and Human Services Library

The Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL) is one of the largest health sciences libraries in the United States. The library serves as a campus hub for collaboration and learning. With wireless connectivity throughout the building, the HSHSL has over 900 seats, 41 group study rooms, a poster printing service, an Innovation Space with 3D printers, a presentation and production studio, art gallery, and multiple technology-enhanced meeting and collaboration spaces.

Through the HSHSL’s web site (www.hshsl.umaryland.edu,) students have access to a suite of research services that includes research consultations, free workshops on topics including health literacy, data management, and citation managers, and video tutorials that cover how to search databases such as PubMed and Embase, formatting your poster for printing, and more.

In FY22, the HSHSL licensed 108 databases, 16,822 journals, and maintained a print collection of 162,039 titles. All of the current journal literature is available electronically. Through the library’s interlibrary loan and document delivery service, students may freely acquire articles and other resources not available through the library’s collections.
