International Applicants

In addition to the general application materials, all international students are required to provide the following documents to the Office of International Services:

  • Current copy of the I-20 form

  • A copy of the first page of your passport with your personal information

  • A copy of your current VISA stamp from your passport

  • A copy of your I-94 form

  • Documentation of financial solvency (yearly cost of tuition, room & board and personal expenses have been estimated to be a minimum of $29,000)

  • Documentation of proficiency in the English language: (provide one of the following)

    • TOEFL Scores
      • Score of 550 on paper based test
      • Score of 213 on computer based test
      • Score of 80 on internet based test
        OR 
    • Transcript from an American college documenting successful completion of English Composition and an elective course in English (100 level or higher).

The submission of the above stated items will ensure that you maintain your VISA status at the University of Maryland. Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter. Academic Evaluation of International Coursework

Academic transcript evaluation is required by a recognized international credential evaluation service for all coursework completed outside the United States (except study abroad coursework completed through an American institution). Suggested credential evaluation services for the DMRT include:

To receive credit for international coursework, official transcript evaluation must be sent to:

The official transcript evaluation must be sent directly from the official credential evaluation source to the DMRT Office of Student Affairs.
