We are always excited to offer new learning opportunities. Last month, we launched our new Mastering Your Research Message workshop, where participants helped each other frame their research to various audiences. The key to successfully explaining your research, says CARTI Director of Science Communications Audrey Huang, is knowing your audience. So the group, which included researchers from the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, University of Maryland Medical System, the VA, and Morgan State University, spent some time thinking about the interests and motivations of different audiences, from small research group meetings to large professional society annual conferences.

Clear communication is critical for success, and we plan to develop new programming in science communications in the next year and beyond. I encourage everyone--regardless of rank and experience--to hone their science communications skills, particularly now as the value proposition of science is under threat.
