Research Funding Resources at CARTI
April 30, 2025
Recent changes in NIH funding are causing much anxiety. We understand and we are here to support you as we navigate together the new terrain.
Check out our one-stop shop on everything you need to know about finding funding.
We have curated a list of previously recorded seminars and other CARTI resources that we hope are helpful in these challenging times. It may seem daunting to shift from relying solely on NIH grants to diversifying across other funding sources: Where does one start looking for appropriate private or industry funding? Here’s a list of seminars on alternative funding sources we have hosted over the last few years that does not entirely cover the waterfront but comes close. To gain access to CARTI’s previous slides and recordings, email Stacie Mendoza.

CARTI offers a grant funding consultation service that helps faculty members identify appropriate, non-NIH research funding. To request a funding consultation, fill out the form on the CARTI web site.
For those newer to grant writing and seeking examples of grants that have been successfully funded, you may peruse CARTI’s funded grants library. We continue to add real examples of funded grant applications including career development awards, research grants, and loan repayment program awards. Visit the CARTI website to gain access to the funded grant library.
If you are actively writing grant applications but cannot stay motivated, join one of our summer grant writing SWAGs. SWAGs are peer-led, limited to eight participants each, follow a structured agenda, and provide peer support and accountability for scholarly writing. We are currently forming both K- and R-writing SWAGs for this summer. They will run July 14 through August 25. Register with Stacie Mendoza by June 16.
