Biosketch
Omer N. Pamuk is a rheumatologist who received his medical degree from Istanbul
University, Istanbul School of Medicine, in Turkey. He completed his internal medicine residency at Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine, followed by rheumatology fellowship training.
Dr. Pamuk has held academic and research positions at leading institutions, including Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Division of Rheumatology, where his work focused on the immunopathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus. He also completed advanced coursework at the Harvard School of Public Health in clinical trials methodology and health outcomes research.
Dr. Pamuk practiced as a rheumatologist at an academic medical center in Turkey for 15 years. He later completed a second rheumatology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
Prior to joining the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Maryland, he served as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, from 2022 to 2026. During this time, he served as Director of the Fellowship Program Research Committee.
Dr. Pamuk has extensive experience in clinical and laboratory-based research and has contributed to numerous multicenter studies. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals.
