Biosketch

Dr. Brown specializes in colon and rectal surgery. Specifically, she specializes in minimally invasive approaches (laparoscopic and robotic), colon and rectal surgery, surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, sphincter-sparing surgery for colorectal cancer, and surgery for anorectal disorders. In addition, she specializes in sacral nerve stimulation for fecal incontinence, laparoscopic treatment of diverticulitis, treatment of rectal prolapse and therapeutic colonoscopy.

Dr. Brown is an assistant professor of surgery at University of Maryland School of Medicine. As an undergraduate, she attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in Spanish. She then attended University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She completed a general surgery residency at University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She also completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at St. Joseph's Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Dr. Brown's professional affiliations include the American College of Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Association of Women in Surgery, the Association for Surgical Education, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
