Biosketch

Dr. Zakhary completed his Ph.D. in physics 2014 at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. His interdiscplinary research focused on multimodality imaging of the rod-like bacteriophage virus fd, which self-assembles into novel low-dimensional materials with rich liquid crystalline properties. Dr. Zakhary then transitioned into radiation oncology and completed his medical physics fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN from 2015 to 2018. During his fellowship program, Dr. Zakhary continued to focus his research on imaging, and participated in clinical trials invesitgating the use of the amino acid PET tracer 18F-DOPA for glioma imaging in both the neurosurgical and radiotherapy settings. Dr. Zakhary joined the Medical Physics team at the Maryland Proton Treatment Center in 2018.
