Biosketch

Graudated from Tongji Medical University in 1982, Dr. Li received her pathology residency training at the University of Maryland hospital and her forensic pathology fellowship training at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of Maryland. As an American Board certified forensic pathologist, Dr. Li’s primary goal has always been to search for the truth and serve for the justice, and to improve public health and safety, with a focus on academic research, clinical work, and teaching future medical providers.

Dr. Li is a forensic pediatric expert. She has been an appointed board member of Advisory Committee of the Child and Infant Loss Center (CILC), University of Maryland Department of Pediatrics since 2002 and board member of Maryland State Child Fatality Review Team (CFR) since 2009.

Clinical research, especially in the areas of SIDS and pediatric head trauma has always been her strong interest. Dr. Li has been Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on 13 research grants and contracts (2 active and 8 completed). Dr. Li is a co-investigator on NIH funded University of Maryland Brain and Tissue Bank since 1998. She has written extensively and have been author/co-author on many articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She also has written 3 book chapters and is the editor of “Forensic Medicine –An English Textbook for Medical Students, Law School Students and Forensic Experts.” Dr. Li is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine and Associate Editor-in-Chief of Forensic Science Research.

In addition, Dr. Li is an adjunct professor of Johns Hopkins Medical School and George Washington University Forensic Science Departement. She also has broad collocations with Johns Hopkins Medical School, George Washington University Washi several major Chinese universities. She is the co-director of the “Sino-US Forensic Science Research Center”. She received an “Excellent Service Award” from China University of Political Science and Law for her significant contributions to enhancing Sino-US forensic science education and research. Her excellent teaching ability and extensive experience in the field of forensic medicine both in the United States and in China has led Fudan University, Wuhan University, Tongji Medical School, Nanjing Medical University, and China University of Political Science and Law to offer her a guest or adjunct professorship. She has been invited by more than 10 Chinese universities/institutions to give lectures on a variety of topics of forensic medicine, especially on SIDS. She was presented an Excellent Teaching Award by the Fudan University Medical College in 2009, an Outstanding Teaching Award by Zhejiang University of School of Medicine in 2014, and a Leadership Award by the Dian Diagnostics in 2015.
