Biosketch

Dr. Gifford graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, with a degree in Biophysics. She then pursued her medical education starting at Loma Lindy University School of Medicine, and finishing at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. During her residency, she took a 1-year approved leave in order to participate in research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Afterwards, she completed her fellowship training for critical care medicine at the National Institutes of Health and for pulmonary medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Gifford attends in the medical intensive care unit at the University of Maryland Medical Center and is a preceptor for the ICM II course at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is also a teleintensivist for both the University of Maryland eCare program and the Veterans Affairs VISN 10 TeleICU program. She serves as Associate Medical Director for the Baltimore satellite hub of the VA VISN 10 TeleICU program.
