Dr. Timofte received her Medical Degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. After completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic-Huron hospital and the Pulmonary and Critical Fellowship at University of Florida, she joined Lung Transplant Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh. She subsequently became lung transplant physician at University of Maryland.

Biosketch

Dr. Timofte's clinical interests comprise advanced lung disease: pulmonary fibrosis, COPD, connective tissue related interstitial lung disease (including scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis), pulmonary hypertension and critical illness. Dr. Timofte’s practice focuses on the pre and post-transplant care of lung transplant recipients. She has been actively and continuously managing these patients since she joined University of Maryland.

Dr. Timofte research interests include the pathogenesis and development of new treatments for chronic rejection, while developing noninvasive and prompt methods to evaluate graft integrity and to predict early onset of lung rejection less invasively with higher sensitivity than a biopsy of the lung allograft though integration of data obtained from cell free DNA and microarray analysis.
