Biosketch

Leah Ruppe MS, CNM, WHNP-BC completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing at Georgetown University. She then continued on at Georgetown University to earn her Master's Degree in Midwifery and Women's Health. She has had the opportunity to attend births in a variety of healthcare settings including both the hospital and birth center environments.

Leah Ruppe began her midwifery career at a very busy academic hospital midwifery practice in Bronx, NY. She joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Reproductive Sciences in September 2013. Leah Ruppe's clinical practice is strongly rooted in the midwifery model of care as well as evidence-based practice. Leah Ruppe is the Director of the Perinatal HIV Practice and the primary clinician for pregnant individuals living with HIV receiving obstetric care at the University of Maryland. In addition to her clinical practice, Leah Ruppe also enjoys her role as an educator for midwifery students, medical students, OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents, and Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows.
