SOM Day at Lexington Market Image Gallery

On December 6, UMSOM held its first-ever “SOM Day at Lexington Market,” a community outreach event sponsored by the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) EMBRACE initiative. UMSOM staff provided resource tables with information on routine cancer screenings and CVD-related recruitment materials. Faculty, staff, and students were invited to support the market’s local food vendors and gather in the Baltimore Room to enjoy lunch.

Brief remarks were made by Louisa Peartree, MBA, Senior Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer at UMSOM; Carl Jackson, Coordinator of Strategic Partnerships, Office of the Provost at UMB; Angela Perry, EMBRACE Case Manager; Kyla Liggett-Creel, PhD, EMBRACE executive director; and members of the Credible Messengers peace group.

The collaborative, a program within the EMBRACE initiative that sponsored the event, is a coalition of UMB staff and faculty, grassroots organizations, nonprofit organizations, and governmental agency partners focused on healing-centered engagement in the community.
