Trying Out New Ways to Talk About Cannabis Use in CSC Programs

Pilot Testing The Check-up for Youth and Young Adults with First Episode Psychosis

Cannabis Use StudyPurpose

The purpose of this research study is to learn how useful a program called The Check-Up is for young people who are receiving mental health services and also using marijuana. For some people, using marijuana regularly can make it hard to stay connected to mental health services. The Check-Up is designed to help people who use marijuana a few times per week stay connected to mental health treatment and do the things that matter to them.

What Will Participants Be Asked to Do?

  • Attend 3 assessment sessions, which include interviews and questionnaires
  • Attend 2 check-up meetings

Study participation will add up to about 5.5 to 6 hours, spread across 5 visits. All procedures can be completed over the phone or via Zoom. An in-person option may also be available.

Eligible Participants

  • 13 - 35 years old
  • Individuals who have used cannabis eight times in the last month
  • Individuals who are receiving first episode psychosis care

Compensation: up to $90
