Dr. Liang is a tenured Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She has nearly two decades of experience in the development, management and analysis of epidemiological, clinical, and health services data with a strong emphasis on applying state-of-the-art statistical methodologies. Her research focuses on study design for clinical trials using both traditional and innovative design methods such as cluster randomized and stepped-wedge designs and test-negative designs; analysis of longitudinal data; causal inference for observational studies; multiple imputation for missing data; meta-analysis for systematic reviews; and risk prediction modeling. Her research is primarily motivated by medical and public health applications in substance use, obesity, diabetes, cancer, and infant and maternal health. She is also experienced with using large electronic medical databases to evaluate care and identify health disparities. Dr. Liang has served, or is currently serving, as a Co-Investigator and Lead Statistician on more than 70 federally or state-funded research grants, including over 20 NIH R01 awards, and has co-authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications.
