Biosketch
Dr. Sarah E. Woodson Smith is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. A dual board-certified neurologist and epileptologist, she specializes in epilepsy surgery evaluation, intraoperative monitoring, and clinical neurophysiology.
As Director of Epilepsy Outpatient Services, Dr. Woodson Smith oversees the coordination and optimization of ambulatory epilepsy care, integrating surgical evaluation pathways, multidisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered outcome initiatives. Her work bridges advanced neurodiagnostics with efficient outpatient management to improve access to specialized epilepsy care.
Her research interests focus on graduate medical education and training for nurses and advanced practice providers. She has published in Neurology, Military Medicine, Teaching and Learning in Medicine, and Epilepsy & Behavior, with recent work addressing surgical epilepsy outcomes and rare epilepsy syndromes.
An experienced educator, Dr. Woodson Smith, teaches medical students, residents, and fellows in neurology and clinical neurophysiology.
