Biosketch
I am a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist with a passion for patient-centered care, medical education, and solving complex clinical puzzles. Originally from the Midwest, where I grew up on a farm, I carry with me a strong work ethic and a grounded approach to medicine that emphasizes compassion, connection, and treating each patient as a valued individual.
My clinical interests include geriatric dermatology, high-risk nonmelanoma skin cancers, melanoma, supportive oncodermatology, and inflammatory dermatoses. These areas allow me to blend careful clinical observation with my dermatopathology expertise to provide precise diagnoses and guide treatment. I particularly enjoy supporting older adults through the challenges of complex skin disease and working with patients and families to create personalized treatment plans.
I chose academic dermatology and dermatopathology because of my dedication to teaching and mentorship. Working with residents and medical students is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I enjoy helping trainees develop their diagnostic reasoning skills, encouraging curiosity, and showing how attention to detail in both clinical care and pathology can transform outcomes. The opportunity to share knowledge while continuing to learn from colleagues and trainees has been a driving force in my professional journey.
I believe in the power of listening closely to patients and creating an environment where they feel understood, respected, and cared for. My goal is to partner with patients in addressing both straightforward and complex dermatologic concerns, and to provide reassurance along with expert guidance
Outside of medicine, I enjoy time with my husband, two young children, and our yellow Labradors, who keep life active and fun.
