Biosketch

Dr. Gyftopoulos is a Maryland native who received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Maryland Midtown Campus and served as a Chief Resident. Dr. Gyftopoulos completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center and served as a Chief Fellow. He received his American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in 2022 and completed the Examination for Special Competence in Adult Echocardiography (ASCeXAM) by the National Board of Echocardiography in 2025. He is also a Certified Cardiometabolic Health Professional (CCHP) by the Cardiometabolic Health Congress.  

Dr, Gyftopoulos is a member of the American Society of Preventative Cardiology, National Lipid Association, European Society of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, and American Heart Association.  

Dr. Gyftopoulos sees clinical patients with a focus on lipid disorders and preventive cardiology.
