Biosketch

Dr. Yahyavi is an Associate Professor, Senior Vice Chair, and Chief Operating Officer at the Department of Radiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is a nationally and internationally renowned Healthcare Leader and Neuroradiologist overseeing the operations, business development, strategic planning, and financial management of the Department of Radiology.

Dr. Yahyavi received her medical degree from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences and did her internship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH followed by a Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She then did a two-year Neuroradiology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, during the second year of which she served as a Clinical Instructor. Dr. Yahyavi was recruited in 2022 to the University of Maryland from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she served as faculty for 5 years. She received her MBA with a focus on Healthcare Management, Innovation, and Technology in 2023 from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

Dr. Yahyavi serves on multiple local and national Boards and Committees. She is a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR)’s Engage Steering Committee and Incidental Finding Committees, and the Economics subcommittee of the ACR’s Patient and Family-Centered Care. She is on the Neurological Imaging expert panel for the ACR’s Appropriateness Criteria. Dr. Yahyavi serves on the executive board and is currently the Treasurer of the Washington DC Metropolitan Society of Radiology chapter of the American College of Radiology. She is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology’s Health Policy Committees on Standards & Guidelines, Safety Quality and Value, and the International Collaboration Committees. 

Dr. Yahyavi has been a successful educator at local and international meetings and is a member of the American Board of Radiology, Neuroradiology Certifying and Subspecialty exam question writing committee. She also serves on the Radiological Society of North America's Education Exhibits Awards Committee.  

Her research interests include Health policy and management, Informatics, Value-Based Healthcare, diversity, and health equity. Her Neuroradiology research interest is in vessel wall imaging, advanced imaging of stroke, functional imaging, and resting state fMRI. She has authored/co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
