Biosketch

Dr. Moran Roni Levin is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland Medical School of Medicine, specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Levin received her medical degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. She completed an Internship in Internal Medicine and a Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute.

Dr loves teaching and enjoys taking the time to teach medical students and residents as well as to educate her patients and their families about their ocular conditions. She serves as the Director of Medical Student Eduction for the Department of Ophthalmology as well as the faculty advisor for the Gold Humanism Honor Societ. Dr. Levin has an interest in international medicine and has participated in numerous ophthalmic medical and surgical missions in Central and South America.

Dr. Levin delivers humanistic and compassionate care to her pediatric and adult patients in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Howard County. She has expertise in all areas of pediatric ophthalmology including the medical and surgical treatment of refractive error, amblyopia, strabismus, diplopia and cranial nerve palsies, inflammatory diseases of the eye, ocular trauma, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, pediatric cataracts, pathology of the eyelid and orbit, and retinal disorders such as retinopathy of prematurity.

Dr. Levin’s adult ophthalmology services include cataract surgery, adult strabismus surgery, laser procedures, and comprehensive adult eye care. Dr. Levin utilizes the most advanced and current techniques in the treatment of strabismus including botox for cranial nerve palsies, rectus muscle plication, and adjustable sutures for strabismus surgery.

Dr. Levin’s research interests include health literacy and improving patient education, medical education, retinopathy of prematurity, and pediatric ocular trauma.

  • Lions Association of Sight and Hearing of Maryland- Created program to allow patients with financial hardship to receive free eyeglasses
  •  Pediatric Vision Screenings- Hamden Community Health fair, Beth-El Pre-school- Baltimore, MD
  • Project Homeless Connect vision screening volunteer, Baltimore, MD- Coordinated and conducted free pediatric and adult vision screenings for hundreds of homeless individuals, worked to establish relationship between University of Maryland Ophthalmology Department and United Way
