Topic: Parasternal block and local anesthetic infiltration with levobupivacaine after cardiac surgery with desflurane: The effect on postoperative pain, pulmonary function, and tracheal extubation times.

Development of QI project to assess and improve postoperative pain and extubation times in lung transplantation with implementation of new protocol in progress.

Clinical Specialty Details

My area of clinical expertise is Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology-care of patients presenting for Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery.

I am skilled in the perioperative management of patients presenting for:
1. Cardiac surgery.
2. Thoracic surgery
3. Vascular Surgery
4. Electrophysiology lab procedures
5. General Surgical procedures

Development of Clinical Programs & Performance improvement in patient care:

1) Development of Departmental Guideline 2019- In 2019, I developed a Departmental guideline for the intraoperative management of patients undergoing procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory (EP lab), titled “Anesthetic Considerations for Electrophysiology (EP) Procedures.” This is the guideline used by residents, fellows, faculty and CRNAs working in the EP lab.

2) Development of anesthetic protocol 2020 - I am currently collaborating with a colleague on development of a Cardiac Anesthesiology protocol for the Intraoperative Management of Lung Transplant recipients

3) QI Project 2020 - I am currently collaborating with a colleague on a QI project in lung transplant recipients postoperatively in the ICU.
