He is a Fellow of the Society and he delivered the Founder’s Lecture at the annual meeting in 2006. He was invited to speak at the Sri Lankan Medical School for their upcoming celebration of their one hundred and fifty years as a medical school.

He is the beloved son of Late Dr. Chelliah Kathirkamanathan and Late Mrs. Pathmawathy Kathirkamanathan, Brother of Mrs. Nalayini Shanmugarajah and Brother-In-Law of Mr. Manohar Shanmugarajah, and uncle of Dr. Gururaj Shan and Mr. Shivaraj Shan.

The squash community is so saddened to lose Shan. He was an avid squash player and a fierce opponent on the squash courts at Meadow Mill Athletic Club.

Other than that, Shan was an ardent music lover (Carnatic and Classical), enjoyed watching sports, he was a certified scuba diver and has gone onseveral excursions in different parts of the world. Photography was his hobby and outdoors was his passion. A humble simple man with few words.

May He join His Parents and Swamiji, and May his Soul Rest in Peace.
