To provide informed clinical and evaluative psychiatric and mental health services to adults, children and families both in-person and via telepsychiatry services. 

The P.A. and Department are committed to providing compassionate and informed care to consumers and in advancing the practice of psychiatry through direct clinical care, research, education & training and community outreach.

Professional Association (PA) Faculty Practice

The Professional Association (PA) Faculty Practice serves the campus employees and family members. Patients can be self-referred, referred by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), or referred by another provider. Psychiatrists conduct personalized evaluations and recommend treatments, which may include medication, among others.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program is a free and confidential counseling and referral service available to employees and their family members.

Resident's Clinic

The Residents’ Clinic was established under the umbrella of the Faculty PA to provide training opportunities for residents in treating patients who could benefit from insight oriented and cognitive therapies. Patients are either uninsured or have a private insurance that is not accepted elsewhere in our system.

Student Counseling Center

The Student Counseling Center provides short-term professional counseling and psychiatric services for currently enrolled full-time and part-time UMB students. Its mission is to help promote and maintain the emotional wellbeing of UMB students, and serve as a resource to the entire University community.

Telemental Health

The Department of Psychiatry is a pioneer in the establishment and provision of telemental health services, which is the delivery of mental health services through phone and video conferencing equipment.

Doctors and trained specialists can conference in patients from a remote location to provide personalized consultations and treatments, prescription of medications, and more – in a joint effort to extend services to underserved areas, address the shortage of psychiatrists, and promote the wellbeing of our community as a whole.

Women’s Mental Health Program

In 2016, the Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry established the Women’s Mental Health Program to treat women and promote the welfare of their babies throughout all stages of pregnancy.

The program pools together our best resources, including psychiatrists and mental health specialists – whose expertise range from reproductive mental health to mother-child relationships to addictions in pregnancy (and more).
