Family & Community Medicine is the one medical specialty that cares for patients during their entire life-cycle. Each year our Dr. Marion and Esther Friedman Family Health Center clinicians care for more than 60,000 patients. We incorporate the latest medical advancements with effective traditions of the old-fashioned family doctor, including house calls for homebound and elderly patients.
The Department maintains a vigorous program of research and scholarly activities which help shape health policy, education and delivery, focusing on issues that directly improve the health and quality of life of our patients.
Our practitioners play a critical role in the care of underserved populations in Baltimore. Through numerous community initiatives and educational outreach programs, we serve inner city communities where diseases are prevalent, and may be left untreated.
