Unified Directory

The Unified Directory system synchronizes passwords between individuals' SOM accounts (SOMIDs) and UMB accounts (UMIDs), establishing a common ID - one username and password - for use across SOM and UMB.

All SOM account holders who are UMB employees or students receive UMIDs, while others may acquire UMIDs as necessary through the UMB Community System. All SOM account holders with UMIDs will link their accounts, starting Spring 2018.

Linked users may change the password for their common IDs via a SOM domain-connected computer, via the SOM password management site (, or via the UMB account management portal ( Once changed through just one of those methods, the password will be set for both the SOMID and UMID parts of the common ID.
