About Dr. Ferrada
Dr. Marcela Ferrada was diagnosed with relapsing polychondritis, a rare and challenging inflammatory disease that causes recurrent inflammation in the cartilage and other organs. After her diagnosis she decided to become a rheumatologist to be able to study this disease.
During her rheumatology fellowship at the NIH, Dr. Marcela Ferrada was the driving force behind the development of the firs prospective relapsing polychondritis cohort. It is largely due to her dedication and vision that this cohort was successfully established. Her initiative has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of relapsing polychondritis.
Her dual perspective as both a patient and a physician, combined with her extensive training in three fellowships, equips her with a uniquely comprehensive skill set to care for patients with complex systemic diseases like relapsing polychondritis
