Dr. Rosen is a surgeon-bioethicist with a clinical focus on minimally invasive general and gastrointestinal surgery and an academic focus on medical ethics and surgical decision making. She is a board-certified general surgeon, with a particular interest in upper gastrointestinal/foregut surgery, hernia repair, bariatric surgery, endoscopy and emergency general surgery.

In her academic time, Dr. Rosen studies the intersection between health services research and patient-centered care and communication. Her work spans qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodology. She has served as Principal Investigator on a NIH-funded F32 grant and authored or co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers and chapters. She has also spoken on her work through The Operative Word podcast from the Journal of the American College of Surgeons and was an invited ethicist for The New York Theater Workshop Post-Show Discussion for the Here There are Blueberries off-Broadway production. She is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, for which she sits on the Ethics and Acute Care Surgery committees, the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
