Raphael P. H. Meier, M.D., Ph.D. is a Transplant Surgeon and researcher in the Department of Surgery and Transplant Surgery at University of Maryland. Dr. Meier's research is focused on the development of Mesenchymal Stem Cell transplantation as a therapeutic modality to deliver anti-inflammatory cytokines to treat liver fibrosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Another part of his research focuses on the development of new strategies to improve outcomes after Islet Transplantation for the treatment of type I diabetes.
