Message from the Program Director
The University of Maryland Pain Management Center (PMC) was founded in 1992 as a division of the Department of Anesthesiology. The practice was located at the downtown Baltimore campus until 2003, when it was relocated to the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute, seven miles from the downtown campus.
The practice is a hospital-based outpatient clinic that utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to treat a variety of chronic pain syndromes.
Our team includes:
-
Physicians who are board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine
-
Two licensed clinical psychologists
-
A nurse practitioner
-
Pain medicine fellows and anesthesiology residents
-
Nurses, physical therapists, and a radiographer
All team members participate in weekly meetings to discuss appropriate treatment options for patients. These may include a multi-modal regimen consisting of medication management, interventional therapy, behavioral therapy, and physical therapy.
