Biosketch

Dr. Luethy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Pathology. He is also the Associate Director of the Clinical Microbiology and Virology Laboratories at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He completed a CPEP-accredited fellowship in Medical and Public Health Laboratory Microbiology at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology with expertise in the diagnosis of infectious disease.

Dr. Luethy is the Program Director of the CPEP-accredited Medical and Public Health Microbiology Fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In addition, he performs research evaluating current and novel infectious disease diagnostics for their utility in the clinical laboratory and for improving patient care. He also is interested in developing molecular tools, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), for use in the clinical laboratory.
