Biosketch
Ryan Spangler, MD, FAAEM, FACEP, is Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He oversees the medical student curriculum in emergency medicine and serves as Clerkship Director and associate Sub-I director for the Emergency Medicine clinical rotations, helping shape the educational experiences of future physicians.
Dr. Spangler earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland and his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Maryland, where he served as Chief Resident, and subsequently completed advanced training in faculty development and medical education.
His academic interests include undergraduate medical education, procedural training, and in renal and genitourinary emergencies. A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Spangler has played a key role in curriculum innovation at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, including the integration of Emergency Medicine as a required clerkship for all medical students. He has been recognized for excellence in teaching and educational leadership by both students and colleagues.
