Biosketch
Dr. Parker graduated from McGill University and received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After a residency in internal medicine, she spent three years on the faculty at the University of North Carolina working at their Area Health Education Center at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. She returned to Baltimore to join the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1992. Since joining the faculty, she has served as the Medical Director of the Internal Medicine Clinic, Associate Program Director for Ambulatory Education in the Department of Medicine, Assistant Dean for Admissions, Associate Dean for Student and Faculty Development, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and is currently Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Chief Academic Officer for the Medical Education Program.
Dr. Parker is an academic leader with more than 30 years of experience in medical education, faculty development, and institutional strategy. Her work focuses on building high-quality educational systems and preparing future physicians to lead in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. She has mentored learners across all stages and led initiatives to strengthen educational outcomes, including the Rural MD Scholars Program, designed to prepare students for rural medical practice and the BS-MD Program with the University of Maryland College Park preparing engineering and computer science students for careers in medicine . Dr. Parker is also deeply committed to faculty development and leadership cultivation. She founded the Medical Education Leadership Academy in 2020, supporting approximately 150 faculty educators.
