Brittany Parham, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor with the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM), and is a faculty member with the national Center for School Mental Health at UMSOM. She received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Buffalo, State University of New York in 2015 and completed her predoctoral psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship with the Center for School Mental Health at UMSOM. Dr. Parham’s current clinical and research interests involve trauma responsive schools and effective implementation of evidence based mental health programs in underserved schools and their surrounding communities.

In her current role as a clinical faculty member with experience in school-based services at the Center for School Mental Health, Dr. Parham serves as a primary point person for developing and delivering training and technical assistance both within the school mental health clinical programs as well as to school stakeholders (including experience developing and delivering in-service curricula for teachers, school police officers, parents, and school staff). She currently coordinates a grant funded youth gambling prevention research project and provides direct school-based clinical care to a Title I Baltimore City School. She also supervises doctoral and masters level trainees providing mental health care in a school-based outpatient clinic. Dr. Parham is very committed to community engagement and supports as it relates to safe and supportive learning environments for students, their families, schools and communities. Since the civil unrest that ensued in Baltimore City in the Spring of 2015, she has been actively involved in local efforts to strengthen relationships among the community and Baltimore City Police through development and facilitation of in-service trainings with police officers and collaborative work with school-based law enforcement personnel.
