Biosketch
Dr. Mumtaz is a dual-speciality trained board-certified dermatologist, and ophthalmologist. She practices general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, and is uniquely positioned to manage complex oculocutaneous diseases.
She is a Maryland native, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She values serving her community in Baltimore, and the surrounding suburbs. Her care philosophy is centered around providing compassionate and individualized care for each patient. She will work with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan.
She graduated Summa Cum laude from University of Maryland College Park from the Honors Program. (Go Terps!) She received her medical degree with honors from the George Washington University School of Medicine and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, exemplifying her exceptional dedication and expertise to the medical field.
She has distinguished herself uniquely by completing two residency training programs in ophthalmology and dermatology. She first completed her ophthalmology residency at University of Maryland Medical Center & world-renowned R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma center in Maryland, where she received unique training in complex facial trauma and advanced wound management along with her ophthalmic surgical care. She learned techniques for repair of complex facial, periocular wounds, and scar management.
She then pursued dermatology training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manatthan, New York City. During her residency she gained expertise in managing complex inflammatory skin diseases using biologics with world-renowned leaders in the field and performing advanced procedures & laser surgery for skin rejuvenation. During her dermatology residency in New York City, Dr. Mumtaz provided clinical care across all boroughs, gaining extensive experience with diverse skin types.
Additionally, she leads the first-of-its-kind Oculocutaneous Diseases Specialty Clinic, offering comprehensive care that bridges both dermatology and ophthalmology. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Mumtaz is an accomplished researcher, who remains committed to advancing the field of medicine. In both of her residencies, Dr. Mumtaz served as the Didactics and Surgical Didactics chair, playing a key role in the educational advancement of her peers. She is committed to continue her research and teaching for students, residents and peers in complex ophthalmic-dermatologic diseases and procedural techniques.
Experienced in the latest medical and surgical advancements, Dr. Mumtaz will provide advanced dermatologic care including the management of complex inflammatory diseases, all aspects of procedural dermatology, including rejuvenation and surgery, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.
