Dr. Klugman is a breast medical oncologist dedicated to improving care delivery for patients with breast cancer and advancing understanding of breast cancer outcomes in real-world populations. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Maryland, she completed fellowship training in medical oncology at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. During this training, she was additionally a scholar of the Armstrong Institute’s Patient Safety and Leadership Academy.

Dr. Klugman has a particular interest in improving the care of young women with breast cancer, who have unique and important unmet needs. She was selected as a scholar in the Advancing Oncology Research Communities in Health Equity (ARCH) K12 program, where she will work with a multidisciplinary team and community partners to better understand and improve the care of premenopausal women undergoing ovarian suppression as part of their treatment.

Dr. Klugman has experience utilizing real-world data to better understand understudied breast cancer subtypes, including estrogen receptor-low-positive breast cancer. In her current research, she plans to continue using large-scale cohorts to understand patterns of care and outcomes in diverse patient populations. She also collaborates with the Institute for Health Computing (IHC) to better leverage data from the University of Maryland electronic medical record system to improve patient outcomes.
