Education and Training

Dr. Hong received his bachelor's degree from Yale University, and received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, IL and then Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Champaign-Urbana.  After a residency, Dr. Hong remained at the University of Illinois to serve as Chief Medical Resident.


After training, he joined the faculty at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Champaign-Urbana holding various positions in clinical and academic leadership.  He then moved to Baltimore and directed Internal Medicine Residency training programs for ten years while also developing an interest in medical informatics.  Dr. Hong joined the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in February 2009. He serves on the core general internal medicine faculty and works in areas of medical informatics.  Dr. Hong is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians (FACP).
