Dr. Harfouch's clinical practice and research interests focus on HIV treatment and prevention in transgender, gay, and bisexual populations. His prior research focused on collection of sexual orientation and gender identity data into medical records. 

Currently, he also practices high resolution anoscopy for anal cancer screening in at-risk populations. He also studies risk factors associated with anal cancer in transgender populations.
