Biosketch

Dr. Cheyenne Falat, MD, FACEP, is a board-certified Emergency Physician, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and serves as Associate Medical Director of the Adult Emergency Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Medical Director of the University of Maryland Access Center Physicians.  She also serves as the immediate past chair of ACEP's Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Section.  Her clinical and academic interests focus on wilderness and environmental medicine, emergency department operations, patient safety & quality improvement, and complex resuscitation.  She has received national recognition as an educator and leader in these areas, including being the recipient of the 2026 ACEP National Emergency Medicine Junior Faculty Teaching Award.  Dr. Falat has authored and edited numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and educational resources, including work on hypothermia, heat illness, rhabdomyolysis, pulmonary embolism, and emergency department flow innovation.  Notable publications include the Environmental Emergencies Section of CorePendium and a recent Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America edition on Environmental and Wilderness Medicine.  In her free time, Dr. Falat enjoys exploring the unknown, whether on foot or in skis.
