Biosketch

Dr. Barr graduated from SUNY Stony Brook University School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency and chief residency at the Rhode Island and Miriam hospitals in Providence, RI. He then completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Dr Barr sees patients in the downtown and Westminster offices.  When he is not seeing patients in the office, he provides care for patients in the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular Consult Service, and also interprets and performs transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms.

In 2018, in conjunction with hematologists and oncologists at the Greenebaum Cancer Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Dr Barr started a Cardio-Oncology Program. The focus of this program is to provide high quality cardiovascular care with easy access for patients who are receiving or have received cancer care in the past.  This may include patients who already carry a cardiovascular diagnosis, who have developed cardiovascular toxicity from their chemotherapy or immunotherapy, or who may require cardiovascular surveillance.

Dr Barr is involved in the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship where he serves as Associate Program Director and teaches 3rd year medical students interpretation of EKGs during their Internal Medicine Clerkship.
