Biosketch

Dr. Jean Yared is a triple board-certified internist, hematologist and medical oncologist attending physician at the University of Maryland, Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and full-time faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (SOM). His main clinical focus is on the treatment of hematological disorders and particularly Blood & Marrow transplantation (BMT) and cellular therapy with CAR-T therapy. He attends on the BMT inpatient unit at the cancer center and he runs the outpatient stem cell transplantation unit. His research interests are in preventing complications during and after stem cell transplantation, reducing the rate of relapsed disease after stem cell transplantation, the role of maintenance treatment in lymphoma. Dr. Yared authored and co-authored several abstracts, posters and peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Yared received a large grant to launch, as the principal investigator (PI), a multicentric investigator-initiated phase 2 clinical trial testing the role of a PI3K inhibitor maintenance treatment of indolent B-cell lymphoma after high dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation. He is the local PI on cooperative and pharmaceutical clinical trials and he is a Co-investigator on several other clinical trials at the cancer center. Dr. Yared is active in the SOM as a teacher and lecturer of the 1st and 2nd  year medical students; he is also a member of the SOM council meeting. Dr. Yared is an active investigator in the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) which is a working group of more than 500 transplantation centers worldwide that contribute detailed data on hematopoietic cell transplantation to a statistical center at the Medical College of Wisconsin; Dr. Yared has authored and co-authored several observational studies conducted by the CIBMTR. Dr. Yared is also working in conjunction with the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy on SEER/Medicare registry data regarding patients with multiple myeloma and lymphoma.
