Biosketch

Dr. Pinet-Peralta administers the regional prehospital, trauma and specialty care for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems (MIEMSS), supports the development and implementation of quality management measures in EMS and directs research protocols. He also teaches health administration, policy and leadership at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Prior to joining MIEMSS, he was a quality improvement specialist for CareFirst and the Associate Director of the Health Administration and Policy Program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. His research interests include health services and policy, patient safety and quality of care. He has published articles in the Journal of Public Health, Prehospital Emergency Care and Prehospital and Disaster Medicine. He serves as academic editor for the Journal Medicine and is a scientific council member for the Critical Care Innovations Journal. Dr. Pinet-Peralta serves as a reviewer for the Pan-American Journal of Public Health, the Emergency Medicine journal, Injury Prevention and the Journal of Emergency Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South  Alabama, a Master of Science in Emergency Health Services and a PhD in Health Policy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
