Summary of Townsel Research

Dr. Townsel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with specialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Additionally, with a Master’s in Clinical and Translational Research, she has a foundational knowledge and expertise in conducting retrospective and prospective studies as well as multi-site studies exploring maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Her primary research focuses on perinatal placental biology in opioid exposed pregnancies. Over the past 6 years she has been caring for patients with substance use disorders and engaging this community in various research projects.
