Complete the Intent to Apply form

All faculty planning to submit a solution summary to ARPA-H should complete this short form first. It tells us about the opportunity and your team, and lets you request the support you need.

OVERVIEW: ARPA-H Proposal Support

Planning an ARPA-H submission? Tell us early.

ARPA-H funds fewer, faster, bigger bets than NIH, and it expects teams to arrive with partners and a path to impact already in place. A UMB committee now coordinates ARPA-H proposals and connects faculty with the support needed to compete.

WHY APRA-H: ARPA-H in perspective

ARPA-H’s budget is a small fraction of NIH’s. It funds a handful of ambitious programs and moves from idea to award in months.

Few teams are eligible. Capabilities and partners, including clinical sites and industry collaborators, need to be in place before you submit.

Speed and dissemination come first. ARPA-H prioritizes fast execution and commercialization. Reviewers look for a credible route from your results to real-world use.

Short timelines. It typically takes about three to four months to go from solution summary to funding decision. Contracting, budgets, and partner agreements have to keep pace.

HOW IT WORKS: From idea to submission

The Intent to Apply form comes before your solution summary. The earlier we hear from you, the more we can help.

  1. Find an opportunity. Identify an ARPA-H program or solicitation that fits your work.
  2. Complete the Intent to Apply form. Tell us the opportunity, your working title and team, and the support you would like.
  3. Connect with support. The ARPA-H committee follows up, coordinates with related teams, and lines up the support you requested.
  4. Submit your solution summary. Submit by the ARPA-H deadline, with partner, budget, and design support behind it.
  5. Full proposal, if invited. If ARPA-H encourages a full proposal, we continue supporting you through submission and award negotiation.

INTENT TO APPLY: Before you submit a solution summary

We ask every faculty member planning an ARPA-H submission to complete the Intent to Apply form. It takes just a few minutes and helps us coordinate across UMB, spot collaboration opportunities, and get support to you in time.
