Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship - University of Maryland
The goal of the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at the University of Maryland is to train outstanding clinical cardiothoracic anesthesiologists who will thrive in any practice environment they choose.
Clinical Training
Our cardiac surgery program offers a complex case mix that allows fellows to grow tremendously in their skills and confidence.
Fellows are exposed to the full gamut of contemporary cardiothoracic surgery procedures, including:

Major aortic surgery (open and cutting-edge aortic endovascular procedures)

Coronary revascularizations (both robotic and on-pump)
-
Open and robotic valve surgery
-
Pulmonary thromboendarterectomies
-
Structural heart interventions (TAVRs, Mitraclips, TriClips, Watchman procedures)
-
Heart and lung transplantations
-
LVAD implantations
Our center also has a large adult ECMO program, and many cardiac surgery patients are bridged to operations or recovery with ECMO.
