Objectives
1. Describe the role of SBIRT and peer recovery specialists as members of the Emergency Department care team. 2. Identify opportunities for effective collaboration with SBIRT and peer recovery specialists to support patients with substance use disorders. 3. Apply patient-centered communication techniques that recognize the influence of past experiences, mental health conditions, and health-related social needs on treatment engagement and recovery.
