Recognizing the need for high-quality, free and low-cost open-access medical education, our faculty are dedicated to creating podcasts, videos, social media posts, and other online educational resources to advance the specialty of Emergency Medicine.

  • Department Chair Professor Mike Winters, MD, co-hosts Critical Care Perspectives in Emergency Medicine, a free podcast that discusses current topics in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. CME credits are available for an additional cost.
  • Vice Chair of the Department, Professor Amal Mattu, MD, teaches weekly lessons through ECG Weekly Workouts, a community with over 30,000 members seeking to master ECG interpretation. Subscriptions are available for $35/year.

Dr. Mattu also posts to X (formerly known as Twitter) under the handle @amalmattu. With more than 50,000 followers, Dr. Mattu regularly shares pearls from his shifts, tagging them with the hashtag #WhiteBoardTeaching.
  • Numerous other UMSOM faculty members contribute to a range of podcasts, webinars, and other virtual conversations, from the EMS Eagles' webinars to Emergency Medicine: Reviews and Perspectives (EM:RAP), Armed with Reason, and AWAEM's 10-Year Anniversary Podcast Series, among others.
