Antimicrobial Resistance
In 2021, there were almost 5 million deaths globally associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Microbes continue to grow resistant to available antibiotics making common practices, including surgery, riskier due to the increased prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. At CVD, we are fighting AMR by circumventing the need for antibiotics by developing vaccines capable of preventing disease caused by bacteria that are commonly resistant to antibiotics. Additionally, our clinicians are committed to providing leadership with antibiotic stewardship and appropriate antibiotic use in the clinic.
