General Operating Rooms

Our General Operating Rooms encompass over 40 operating rooms, procedure and diagnostic areas. Here, CRNAs provide anesthesia for all types of surgical and interventional procedures. In fact, the University of Maryland has the largest organ transplant program in the state. With nearly half of the hospital beds being dedicated to intensive care, CRNAs here are providing state of the art anesthesia management to complex patients requiring extensive surgical procedures.

R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center

The world’s first and foremost trauma facility- and the nations only freestanding trauma hospital- the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is the cornerstone of Maryland’s Emergency Medical Trauma System. This 9-bed operating room is the only one in the country with a practice focused specifically on traumatic injury.

University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus

About 1 mile away from the University Campus is the UMMC Midtown Campus which has an additional 10 anesthetizing sites. CRNAs here have the opportunity to perform anesthetics for a variety of patients in the specialties of orthopedics, podiatry, vascular, urology, ophthalmology, gastrointestinal and general surgery.
