Ashley Martinelli, PharmD, UMMC Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, and Amal Mattu, MD, Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, are among the authors of "High-dose nitroglycerin infusion description of safety and efficacy in sympathetic crashing acute pulmonary edema: The HI-DOSE SCAPE study," Am J Emerg Med. 2023 Jan;63:74-78. doi: 10.1016/j.ajem.2022.10.018. This report is the largest study to examine the infusion of ?100 mcg/min of nitroglycerin as a strategy for the management of sympathetic crashing acute pulmonary edema (SCAPE). It concludes that infusion may be a safe alternative to intermittent bolus of high-dose nitroglycerin.
